National English Language Drama Festival in Veszprém

The first festival was organised by Katona László (assisted by Magyar Orsolya) in 2009. At that time performance were offered by troupes from Debrecen, Piliscsaba and Veszprém. The success of the first experimental endeavour confirmed the fact that there is a strong need for national English language theatre events where both adults and secondary school students who adore both the English language and the world of theatre can act together in front of a professional jury of actors, literary scholars and theatre experts.

The founder of the festival has been supported by the English and American Studies Institute. In 2010 they joined forces with the American Corner Veszprém in 2010. Bertalan Judit former director and educational advisor has taken the role of co-organiser since 2010. Kész Zoltán former director and educational advisor of American Corner Veszprém became member of the organising committee in September, 2012.
Falussy Boglákra, current director and educational advisor of American Corner Veszprém has been co-organiser of the festival since September, 2013.

The venue of the festivals is the Latinovits-Bujtor Studio Theatre of the Veszprém Petőfi Theatre. (http://www.petofiszinhaz.hu/).

The event is strongly supported by former CEO of Veszprém Petőfi Theatre Bujtor István (†) and present executive Oberfrank Pál. Besides all their support the VPT also delagates some actors/actresses to the jury since 2011.

We are glad that there the festivals have run with a full house in the theatre, and we regard this as a confirmation that we should continue the traditions that we have started.
